Associate Pastor of Student Ministries

I am so excited to be apart of Hillside Church. I was called here in October of 2001. When I graduated from High School here in San Jose I knew that God was calling me to work with High School students. At that time I was planning on going into the medical field and working as a volunteer staff person. God had a different plan for my life. Over the course of about a year God began to change my heart and I began to hear the call of full time ministry to high school students. At first I fought with God about it, but in April '93 in Mexico, God showed me very clearly that He had a different plan for my life than what I thought.

After that time in Mexico I finished up at West Valley College and transferred over to San Jose Christian College. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Bible Theology and Youth Ministry. At the same time I had the opportunity to do a three year internship at my home church Calvary Baptist in Los Gatos. I worked there for five years and learned hands on what I was learning in school. I am in the process of getting my Seminary degree (many years still to go). I knew early on in high school that God called me to work with young people, because my life is different today because of the people that poured into me when I was young. I wanted to do the same thing for somebody else. It has been such a blessing pouring into students and to see God change their lives right before your eyes.

I married Marlene in 2002 and we are so excited to be a part of this church. We have felt very loved and welcome here. Marlene and I both love people and love to talk, so give us a call or drop by the church or our home. God has blessed us with two little girls. We both love being parents and all that is involved in that. It is so exciting watching them grow every day and be a part of the High School Ministry with us. The Bible says in John 10:10 that Jesus came so that we would have life and have it abundantly. My desire is for every student to see that God loves and wants them to have a great life full of His grace and mercy.
