Ken and Julie Vaughan
Ken and Julie are working in Dakar, Senegal. Their primary ministry is teaching at Dakar Academy, a school primarily for the children of missionaries, but also for children of diplomats, English speaking business persons, and others who would like an English speaking education for their children. Julie teaches art at the middle school and high school levels. Ken teaches at the middle school level.
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, Ken and Julie are involved in mentoring and discipleship of students, youth groups, National Honor Society, and outreach programs into the community and into villages in the interior of the country. They have three children, Laura, Andrew and Aimee, who grew up in West Africa and are now living in Arizona and Oklahoma. WorldVenture is the missionary sending agency enabling them to serve in Senegal, representing Hillside Church's effort to reach West Africa with the gospel of Christ.
Major Challenges
Providing a quality Christian education while assisting the students to effectively transition from a developing country to a fast-paced, high-tech western culture for college.
Prayer Focus
Pray that the students will develop a vision for taking the gospel to the world and that they can successfully make the cultural, social, and academic transitions, they face after their overseas high school experience.
