Sermon Discussion Questions [ PowerPoint Slides ]

How do you typically react to blood? Don’t gross out your group, but share a story to illustrate your past responses to blood. (Spare us the details!) Do you have any particular reason why you are either un-phased or freaked out by blood?

Did the message raise more questions in your mind, or did you find it meaningful and satisfying? Do you feel that you understand why there needs to be blood? What additional questions came up for you, if any?

Do you struggle with the idea that you are a priest, or do you own it to the point that it motivates how you live? Remind one another what a priest is and does. Have you ever felt like a priest for someone? When has someone been a priest for you?

“Christ died to take away your sins.” What responses would you expect today if an unbeliever heard this statement: indifference, offended anger, condescending mockery, gratitude, broken humility, or explosive elation? As you have heard this statement made in many different ways and in different settings in your past, was there one time that really changed your life? Was it during a sermon, movie, song, someone’s story, etc? When did it really touch you? How can we help others to understand it fully?
