What was (or would be) Mom’s advice to you about marriage? What was Dad’s? Did you receive any guidance before you got married? What was the greatest counsel you received that really paid off (or proved to be true)? Why doesn’t Jesus debate divorce? Why does he focus on marriage instead? How is he reversing the trap? Does “what God has joined together” apply to unbelievers? How might his answer be different if a divorcée, truly seeking God, had asked the question? How do the disciples see marriage? Why? How can reaffirming your marriage commitment protect and strengthen your marriage relationship? How can you have the marriage God desires? When divorce occurs, what hope does Jesus offer? Aside from divorce, Joe listed some other “destructive forces against the family”, implied from God’s original design. Which ones stood out to you as a good reminder? Outside of your own household, are you burdened to help a family going through crisis right now? What’s the hardest part of trying to help them? | |
