Does the fact that one is a follower of Christ increase one’s chances of becoming a “perfect parent?” Why or why not? From Psalm 127, which of the three snapshots of children challenge you the most in your present day parenting? In what ways would you like to grow in your relationship with your child or children this year? As you were growing up, who could you count on to encourage you? What did this person do or say that conveyed this? What are you teaching and training your children these days that you want to see in your great, great grandchildren’s lives? What are your favorite times as a family these days? How might each of your children respond to this question? Eugene Peterson challenges Christ followers: “The character of our work is not shaped by our accomplishments or our possessions, but in the birth of relationships.” God’s ultimate gift to us is not possessions but people. For all of us – with or without children in our home – what ideas do you have in 2010 to nurture the next generation of believers? | |
