Farm Drive Neighborhood Center

Our mission statementTo love, care, and live out the love of Jesus in the Farm Drive neighborhood, and to lead children and their families to know and follow Him.

In June of 1992, several people from Hillside gathered on a patch of dirt outside an apartment on a street called Farm Drive. They decided to begin a Bible Club with a distinct purpose: to serve the families of the neighborhood. And thus, Friends of Farm Drive began. This ministry hosts a variety of services for the neighborhood, including a Bible Club, Homework Club, and street hockey. If you have questions or are interested in serving with us, contact Director Patty Havens.

Homework Club: Our homework assistance club helps students in small groups.

Elementary | Mondays and Wednesdays, 3pm-5pm
Junior High and High School  | Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30pm-5pm

Bible Club: Saturdays, 10am-12pm. Neighborhood kids in Kindergarten through high school meet to play games, eat breakfast, and learn the Bible in small groups. High school students can make their own breakfast and eat together, and sometimes they meet offsite and do a variety of activities.

CRAM: Committed. Relational. Accountable. Motivated. Adult mentors prepare high school students for college or job training. In this incentive-based program, students are rewarded for meeting certain requirements with gift cards, special activities, money, and—when they graduate—a laptop and printer. CRAM is all about building relationships with these students, loving them, helping them succeed, and pointing them to Jesus. Every year, we have an average of 15 kids involved in CRAM.

Summer Activities: Every summer is full of activities for neighborhood kids. Educational trips include the Monterey Bay Aquarium, San Francisco Zoo and museums. We also host swim parties and open the Center so kids can play basketball, pool, hockey, and more. The highlight of the summer is multiple swim parties.

Street Hockey: For many years, we have partnered with Sharks ‘n Parks to give the kids an opportunity to play street hockey. Weekly practices begin in the summer and continue through September. Our team, The Farm Drive Homies, plays against other teams in an all-day street hockey tournament, which is held in the SAP Center parking lot in September.

Neighborhood Potlucks: Several times a year, we invite the neighborhood to the Center, and we all eat together. We are always trying to be responsive to the needs of the neighborhood, which is why we partner with SJPD to provide classes for parents on topics such as parenting skills, neighborhood safety, and others.

Food Distribution: First Tuesday of the month, 1pm-5pm. Farm Drive has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide food for needy families. Faithful volunteers show up at Hillside to unload a semi loaded with food. Volunteers help unload, sort, bag, and put the food into carts for 130 families.
